Cachalot consists of Swiss sound artists Marc Berman (accordeon) and Jamasp Jhabvala (violin). The two musicians crunch the natural sounds of their instruments until only a halo remains. From a noise background of electronic cracklings emerge long and slow melodies, broken by sudden and ephemeral groundswells. For this record the duo worked from photographs taken by Kosuke Okahara on the site of Fukushima, deserted after the nuclear accident of 2011 (Kosuke Okahara, Fukushima Fragments, Ed. La Martinière, 2015). The recording took place during a 2017 concert series. 100 copies on 180g vinyl, cut by Flo Kaufmann.
